This pipe has been carved out of reclaimed manzanita tree that died and was gathered from a wildfire prevention area gathered in the high desert mountains of southern California.
Measures 4 1/4" Long X 2" Wide X 7/8" Thick.
The bowl is 5/8" and set @ 1/2" Deep that has been hand charred to burn off the natural wood resins for a clean smoke.
The smoke hole is 1/8" for a cool and smooth draw.
Manzanita is a tree that grows all around southern California and is so exotic it is protected by federal law and is illegal to cut it down without proper permission from either land owners or state and federal officials.
Manzanita wood is also a very hard and dense wood so it holds the heat well and is a great wood for crafting long lasting pipes out of it.
Natural exterior wood grain and shape is shown off in the bowl part of this custom piece.
The wood has been gently hand sanded to soften up the exterior part of the wood giving the pipe a complete organic and rustic look. While the top part has been handcarved to show off the beautiful inner heartwood grain striations of the manzanita.
A custom black walnut burl wood stem complements this piece. Black walnut burl is a beautiful compliment to the manzanita in that it is both sturdy and offers a nice deep earthy brown tone to contrast nicely.
Natural wood cracks and knots have been inlaid with some high grade bright blue turquoise stone that has been set into a crushed deep earthy green malachite to compliment the organic nature of the wood and to add more character.
The bright vibrant blue green color of turquoise and malachite stands out very nice against the organic wood grain striations.
Each and every stone, shard and chunk of turquoise has been mindfully and patiently inlaid one piece at a time.
Feels good and sits perfect in either right or left hand grip.
A smooth hand carved tapered smoking tip for comfort on the lips.
Each piece finished with an eco friendly penetrating oil sealed permanently into the wood for a long and happy life.
Sits flat when set down.
Each pipe has been signed by the artist.
