This pipe has been mindfully carved out of reclaimed manzanita burl that died and was gathered from the high desert mountains of southern California. 

Measures 9" Long X 2 3/4" Wide X 2 1/4" Thick.

This rare piece features a custom carved bowl that is about 1" round and 3/4" Deep for some extra packing.  The bowl has been masterfully carved in an exotic design that curves up and out of the bowl to offer the look as if it has actually been melted into form. At the base of this bowl is another small bored out hole that sits above the smoke chamber at 1/4" to allow a screen to rest perfectly above the smoke hole chamber. The bowl has also been charred to burn off the natural wood resins for a clean and natural smoke. 

The smoke hole is 1/8" for a slow, smooth and cool draw.

Manzanita is a tree that grows all around southern California and is so exotic it is protected by federal law and is illegal to cut it down without proper permission from either land owners or state and federal officials. 

Manzanita burl, the wood root mass that the manzanita tree grows from, is even more dense and often times offers more stunning character than the tree itself and so it holds the heat well and is a great wood for crafting exotic and long lasting pipes out of it.

The manzanita part of the pipe highlights the natural and organic wood bumps, knots and ripples that have been left in their natural live edge state the way the burl wood naturally grew. The rest of the burl part has been hand carved to reveal the natural deep red inner wood grain. 

A custom handcarved amboyna burl wood has been chosen as the stem to complement this piece against the deep red manzanita burl wood color. 

Amboyna Burl is one of the most prized wood burls for its deep red color and heavy bird's eye or bubbly grain pattern. It comes from either the Narra tree or the Burma Paduak tree which are both of the Ptreocarpus genus and grow in Southeast Asia.

Natural weatherd wood cracks and knots have been inlaid nicely with some high grade bright bright blue sleeping beautu turquoise and an exotic rare bright green turquoise stone to compliment the organic nature of the wood and to add more character. 

Sleeping Beauty Turquoise is revered and highly sought after due to its pure sky blue color which shows very little to no veining or webbing which makes it a perfect compliment to the desert sage root.  

It’s pure color and natural strength make Sleeping Beauty Turquoise characteristics a favorite for jewelry makers and artists around the world. It is one of the most prized forms of turquoise for jewelry and adornment.

Each and every stone, shard and chunk of turquoise has been mindfully and patiently inlaid one piece at a time.

Feels good and sits perfect in either right or left hand grip as the back of this custom piece has a slightly exaggerated curve that arches artistically and comfortably in your hand. Additionally, the carved back part of the pipe also wraps around both sides, exposing more of the inner wood grain and adding more comfort to the grip.

The amboyna burl wood stem has also been shaped to a smooth hand carved tapered smoking tip for comfort on the lips.

Each piece finished with an eco friendly penetrating oil sealed permanently into the wood for a long and happy life.

Sits flat when set down.

This pipe has been both signed and dated by the artist. 

Additionally, as this is a specialty collectors pipe it also comes with a certificate of authenticity. 

Each pipe comes with stainless  steel screens, a polishing cloth and a black velveteen cloth bag for safe keeping!
