#12 Custom Manzanita Guitar Stand with Sleeping Beauty Turquoise Inlay
Capozzi Artworks nature-inspired custom guitar stands transcend the basic functional intention of simply displaying your guitar. These elegantly designed stands have each been handcrafted to appear as if organically grown into form. An elegant display and show off your prized instrument collection!
Each unique stand is a functional and collectible art sculpture that adds amazing live edge beauty to your home or studio.
Manzanita is a natural tree that grows all throughout the high desert mountains of California and is considered so sacred that it is protected by federal law to destroy or cut and harvest any of the wood. Its beauty is unmatched by any other wood. The natural twisted shapes of the Manzanita are shaped through time and the elements of high winds and specific weather conditions throughout its life cycle.
All wood materials used in the creation of these stands have either been harvested from mountainsides that have been burned in wildfires or harvested with permission from land owners in surrounding areas clearing out dead brush to prevent future wildfires.
The Manzanita is hand selected and properly cleaned to preserve and highlight the natural live edge wood character. Each piece is then set together following the natural growth patterns of the wood blending each branch into the next.
All glue joints have each been hand carved and fashioned together using a high strength epoxy and then reinforced by implementing traditional woodworking techniques with oak wood dowels for extra strength and durability. No screws, nails or bolts are ever used in the construction of any stand.
As each stand takes on a life and character of its own, it is then that the custom inlay process is introduced. Semi-precious stones of turquoise, malachite, azurite and chrysocolla are the stones often used for the inlay. Each and every shard, chunk and stone is mindfully set deep into natural and weathered wood cracks one piece at time, creating stunning veins of shiny stone inlay that look as if they too have grown naturally into the wood.
The oiling process takes anywhere from several days up to a week to complete. Eco friendly penetrating oil is applied by heat-baking the oil into the wood and is applied layer after layer ensuring the oil is completely soaked into the wood, permanently sealing your guitar stand to last for generations.
Each stand is signed, numbered and dated by the artist on the day it is first oiled.
Various high quality leather is upholstered and completes each stand. Non-leather options are also available through custom order requests.
